I went to a garden party to reminisce with my old friends

When I got to the garden party, they all knew my name
\nYet no one recognized me because I didn’t look the same<\/p>\n

People came from miles around
\nEveryone was there
\nYoko brought her walrus
\nThere was magic in the air<\/p>\n

And over in the corner—much to my surprise—Mr. Hughes hid in Dylan’s shoes and was wearing his disguise<\/p>\n

I played them all the old songs and thought that’s why they came
\nNo one heard the music because we didn’t look the same<\/p>\n

I said hello to Mary Lou—she belongs to me
\nWhen I sang a song about a honky-tonk, it was time to leave<\/p>\n

Someone opened up a closet door and out stepped Johnny B. Goode
\nHe was playing guitar like a ringing-bell and looking like he should<\/p>\n

If you got to play at garden parties, I wish you a lot of luck
\nIf memories were all I sang then I would rather drive a truck<\/p>\n
