CHEM1B — General Chemistry II

The second semester of General Chemistry was by most accounts a direct continuation of the first semester.  A few differences existed, the most noticeable being that its curriculum is increasingly scattered: many of the Chemistry lessons that were covered are fragmented and do not effectively reinforce one another conceptually. This degraded the learning experience and oftentimes resulted in useless exercises in memorization and mental gymnastics.  The course is also noticeably more difficult than the first semester with the workload also increasing a bit, presumably in an attempt to turn away certain students that somehow made it past the first semester.

After completing the course I realized that I very much enjoy the subject of Chemistry but strongly disagree with how the General Chemistry curriculum is structured.  Fortunately my professor for both semesters was excellent and this helped me in dealing with these shortcomings.
